Dr. Richard Miyata was born and raised in Seattle. He graduated from the University of Washington and then the University of Washington’s School of Dentistry. He has been practicing dentistry since 1997. Dr. Miyata has been described as honest, gentle, and creative. He’s married to his wife Maureen and together they have a daughter. In his free time, he enjoys camping, kayaking, and traveling. Dr. Miyata has enjoyed building and fixing things since childhood. His current passion is restoring vintage bicycles. He’s also an avid reader of non-fiction books. He feels that it’s important to always be learning new things. One of his favorite quotes is:
“Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.”

Some dentists are highly educated and skilled, and some are wonderfully personable. With Dr. Richard Miyata, you get the best of both worlds! He is a highly-trained and skilled clinician who graduated at the top of his class and has studied with some of the foremost pioneers in dentistry. Dr. Miyata is also a kind, patient, compassionate, and friendly person who treats his patients like family, and ensures that they feel taken care of each and every time they visit.

Kay
Patient care Coordinator
Kay has been with Zen Dental Center since 2014. She is dedicated to creating a smooth, welcoming experience for patients and staff alike. Outside of the office, Kay enjoys horror films, photography, camping, clamming, and traveling with her family.
Alianna
Registered Dental Assistant
Alianna was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. She enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends, exploring new coffee shops, and going on walks when the weather is nice. She is currently in school and working toward a career in the dental hygiene field.
Anna
Registered Dental Assistant
Anna is from Seattle and plans to join Seattle University’s undergraduate class in Fall 2026. In her free time, she enjoys baking desserts and going to the gym. Her goal is to become a registered nurse and eventually specialize as a NICU nurse.
Chantal
Registered Dental Assistant
Chantal grew up in Renton and is a Seattle University alumna. She loves spending time with her family, doing activities together, and trying new foods. Chantal plans to become a dentist in the near future.
Kaitlyn
Registered Dental Assistant
Kaitlyn is from Tacoma and currently a student at the University of Washington. Her hobbies consist of singing, completing the NYC Times daily Wordle, and trying new restaurants. She is also planning on becoming a Dentist in the future.
Lauren
Registered Dental Assistant
Lauren is an undergraduate student at the University of Washington, majoring in Biochemistry with a minor in Nutrition. She grew up in Cupertino, California. Outside of class and work, she enjoys crocheting and exploring Seattle’s cafés with her roommates.
Mina
Registered Dental Assistant
Mina is a pre-dental student pursuing a B.S. in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. Outside of academics, she enjoys staying active through volleyball, tennis, hiking, and snowboarding. An animal lover at heart, Mina also loves spending time with her dog and cat.
